One Day To Go

It isn’t quite euphoria, given that I still have one day to go, but still it is only one day to go before I’m on holidays from work. Two weeks away from work and really looking forward to the break. I need the rest – exhausted. I’m nodding off as I try to post Blog articles and the like here tonight. One more day and annual leave – it’s a good feeling.

What do I plan to do with the two weeks? A good question that there isn’t really an answer for. I usually like to travel somewhere in Australia, but this time round it is likely to be just a rest period punctuated by a day trip here and there along the way.

I do hope to continue Blogging through my annual leave, so some interesting posts to come I hope.

Car Crash: 22 February 2008

22 February 2008 Crash ResultOver the next little while I have decided to post photos from the past, to travel back over my photos and select photos to post from the archives. Today’s photo is from almost 4 years ago,
of what remained of my car following an accident that almost killed me.

I have no memory of the accident and what happened over the hours leading up to the accident and the hours following the accident. I apparently hit a tree and went over the edge of a mountain, suffering severe injuries as a result, including brain damage (from which I have now healed). I am very thankful to God for having not only survived the accident, but also to have recovered almost completely.

Kevin’s Walk on the Wild Side

Today’s link is to one of my other Blogs. The Blog is called ‘Kevin’s Walk on the Wild Side.’ The Blog is a place for me to post news about my trips into the Australian wilderness, environmental news, conservation news, etc.

The Only Way to Travel in Suburbia

Michael and Kevin Matthews with Grandma MatthewsThis photo was another salvaged from my grandfather’s slide collection. It would have been taken back in the 1970s. I have no idea where it was taken.

The three people in the photo are my grandmother in the lower left corner, my cousin Michael is on the tank at left and I am on the tank at right.

Queensland

Thinking of taking a holiday in Queensland, Australia? Here is a site to have a look at. It is a great place to stop by if you are thinking of travelling to Queensland.

The Lake Eyre Basin

There is simply no other place like it in Australia. The Lake Eyre Basin is Australia’s ‘inland sea’ and an important wilderness location, particularly for bird breeding. If you have ever wanted to travel to Lake Eyre, this is an important website to check out.

Follow the Sun: Australian Travel Posters Collection from the 1930s to the 1950s

I thought I might share some websites on Australia this week. The first is a site that has a collection of Australian travel posters from the 1930s to the 1950s. The posters are stored at the National Library of Australia.

NSW Road Trip 2010: Website

It won’t be long and I’ll be heading off on my latest holiday – the first for several years actually. I’ll be off on a road trip around New South Wales, Australia. In total, I’ll be covering around 4000km in nine days of driving.

I’ll be covering the road trip on my kevinswilderness.com website, where you will be able to follow my progress on a Google Map that has my planned itinerary on it. There will be plenty of updates on the website – including Blog entries, photos, maybe a video or two, travel journal, etc.
