Picnic in the Park

Kevin Matthews, Michael MatthewsThis is another image from the slides I salvaged from my grandfather’s collection. It shows my cousin Michael on the right and me on the left. It looks like we are having a picnic in the park somewhere.

Inflatable Football

Kevin Matthews, Michael MatthewsThis photo was taken at Speers Point Park in New South Wales, Australia, I believe. It would have been back in the 1970’s and shows my cousin Michael in the foreground and me in the background. It would appear as though a rather strange game of football is underway – being played with an inflateable ball of some description.

Once again the photo was salvaged from slides my grandfather had taken back in the day.

Crossing Over

Kevin Matthews, Michael MatthewsThis photo is another from the slides that I managed to salvage from my grandfather’s collection. I have simply called it ‘crossing over.’ Why? Because my cousin Michael and I are crossing over a bridge. Quite simple really.

I am not entirely sure where this photo was taken, but it does resemble an old bridge that once crossed a stream as you headed into the Barrington Tops from Gloucester, in New South Wales, Australia. Perhaps someone will recognise the location and either confirm or correct me on that.

I am the smaller of the two boys in the photo. My cousin Michael is on the left of the photo.

A Lookout from the Past

I have recently begun to salvage some images from slides taken well into the past – from the family archives. These archives I have had for some time and now I have the technology to be able to bring these images back into the present. So for the next few days I plan to post a number of these photos from past slides taken by my grandfather many years ago.

Today’s image has me in the middle of the photo pointing to something that can be seen from the lookout. I’m not sure just what it is that I am pointing to – possibly towards my house. I’m fairly sure that the lookout is that of Mount Sugarloaf near Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. On my left is my brother David and on my right is my cousin Michael.
