Great Weather

Today is Christmas Day, but this post is not about Christmas Day – other than the fact that the day is actually Christmas Day. It is about the weather we are having on this particular day, that just happens to be Christmas Day.

In recent times the weather here has been very hot and we have been experiencing a drought. Yesterday the temperature was very hot, there was a dry, hot wind blowing and it was very draining. The watercourses around the area were drying up and had very little in the way of water left in them – apart from the main river of course.

Today the temperature is much cooler, with a wonderful cool breeze blowing and it is currently raining. In fact there is a thunderstorm, but not a violent one. It is the type of storm that just seems to slowly roll by with a small amount of lightning and thunder, yet has a lot of steady, soaking rain in it.

This rain is a major blessing and should be enough to allow some colour to return to our lawns (other than brown) and save the various plants under my care at work. Many of our plants have been greatly stressed because of a lack of water, so this truly is a great blessing. Very thankful for the rain.

I Only Forget what I don’t Remember

It is taking me a while to get used to posting this extra post on what’s happening in and around me each day. These are my ‘365 Posts’ for the Blog, where I try and do one post a day concerning my life, something I experience, etc – for each day of the week. I haven’t bee too successful in being consistent at this as of yet. Hopefully soon I’ll achieve it.

The problem is I keep forgetting, but I only ever forget what I don’t remember, and that which I remember I never forget.

Blogging Away

So this post is just another quick one so I can go to bed. I’ve been busy Blogging away today, getting a few posts done ahead of time and trying to get back on schedule with all of my Blogs. I have a heap going, covering all manner of topics. I love Blogging, so I spend a bit of time doing it. I created another this week, which is the website link for today – The Book Stand. It complements my other book Blog – At the BookShelf.

One Day To Go

It isn’t quite euphoria, given that I still have one day to go, but still it is only one day to go before I’m on holidays from work. Two weeks away from work and really looking forward to the break. I need the rest – exhausted. I’m nodding off as I try to post Blog articles and the like here tonight. One more day and annual leave – it’s a good feeling.

What do I plan to do with the two weeks? A good question that there isn’t really an answer for. I usually like to travel somewhere in Australia, but this time round it is likely to be just a rest period punctuated by a day trip here and there along the way.

I do hope to continue Blogging through my annual leave, so some interesting posts to come I hope.

Car Crash: 22 February 2008

22 February 2008 Crash ResultOver the next little while I have decided to post photos from the past, to travel back over my photos and select photos to post from the archives. Today’s photo is from almost 4 years ago,
of what remained of my car following an accident that almost killed me.

I have no memory of the accident and what happened over the hours leading up to the accident and the hours following the accident. I apparently hit a tree and went over the edge of a mountain, suffering severe injuries as a result, including brain damage (from which I have now healed). I am very thankful to God for having not only survived the accident, but also to have recovered almost completely.

Accompl.sh

Today’s link is to a web application/social network type site that I posted about a year ago. Back then the application was known as 101in365 and the link to the post is below:

https://onetoday.wordpress.com/2011/01/29/101in365/

The web application/social network is now known as accompl.sh. The site has changed a bit since that first post, with accomplishment goal lists now able to be pretty much whatever you like. There is also a ‘challenge’ capability with a social angle built into the application.

Last year I started off well with my list and was well on the way to meeting all of my goals. However, with my extended break also came a break with my accomlishment goal list. There were 101 goals on the list. This year I have 90.

Browser-based Nation Simulation Game: Nation States – The Republic of Soternia

Yesterday’s post concerned the browser-based nation simulation game Nation States. Today I have posted a link to the nation that I have created, known as the Republic of Soternia in the Isles of Terra Westralis.

Dorrigo National Park: Scene from Casuarina Falls

I am currently on leave and haven’t always had Internet access – hence the absence of a few posts recently. I have decided that for today I’ll post a photo taken today while bushwalking through the Dorrigo National Park in New South Wales, Australia. This shot is taken at Casuarina Falls on Sassafras Creek. More shots to come in coming days.

Birthday Alarm

Interesting how on this day I post about birthday ecards and the like – anyhow, I thought I’d post about a link to do with birthdays today. Birthday Alarm is an online ecard site, with hundreds of cards for many different occasions. So if you like to send these for various events, Birthday Alarm may well be worth checking out.
