Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) Browser Game: Travian

Travian is another Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) browser game. It is a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game in which you are up against thousands of other players building online villages at various levels of development. The game is set in Roman Times and your objective is to quickly build a village and then participate in defensive/offensive strategy/battles. Of course there is a lot more detail to the game than that. This game is also similar to Land of Destiny and Tribal Wars, but again it is a different experience to them both.

I play all three of the games that I have mentioned in the last couple of days and enjoy them all. I think if you like one, you would like them all also. I’m sure, like me, that there would be one you prefer above the rest. For me it is Tribal Wars, followed by Land of Destiny, then Travian – but I do not want to make it sound as though Travian is a poor game. It is a great game also.

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is a social network for web surfing and sharing webpages and sites that you particularly like and find useful. You can easily surf the web by ‘stumbling’ along – that is, by clicking the stumble button on the toolbar that you can install, allowing you to visit random sites in the categories you choose to explore. As you visit sites, you can like/dislike them, allowing StumbleUpon to learn your likes and dislikes as you surf the web via StumbleUpon.

Being a social network, StumbleUpon allows you to share the sites you visit with friends and others within the StumbleUpon community. Of course, StumbleUpon can be used as a bookmarking type of site, by adding the sites you like to StumbleUpon in a similar way to that of adding favorites/bookmarks to Delicious or your browsers favorites/bookmarks. It’s up to you.

I tend to use StumbleUpon as a surfing tool and haven’t really added a lot to my favorites (I generally forget to do that). For this purpose I have adjusted the settings within StumbleUpon to reflect the topics I like to explore while surfing the web. So it isn’t such a sharing tool for me, as a recommendation tool for the various categories I have checked.

Restarting The Blog

Over the last few weeks I have been doing a fair amount of consolidation of websites and reassessment of website plans, etc. I have now arrived at the decision that I will be able to continue this Blog – so I will be starting again tomorrow.

To mark the restarting of the Blog, I have given the site an overhaul – which I hope you like.

Penzu: Create a Private or Public Diary

Some people like to have a diary in which they pen their private thoughts – just for themselves. Penzu is the online equivalent of that idea. It will also allow you to share your diary or journal should you to choose to do so. However, one the best things about Penzu is that it is unlikely to be found by nosey people looking about your house – even your partner or other family members.

Rusting Relic at Lightning Ridge

Exploring Lightning Ridge in New South Wales (Australia) is like stepping back in time to some degree. Everywhere you look you see the history of opal mining and the establishment of the town. There are old vehicles of many descriptions all around the opal fields.

My Internet Radio Station at Blip.fm

I now have an Internet Radio Station at Blip.fm. Anyone can listen to the music by going to my Blip.fm site at:

http://blip.fm/DJ_ParticularKev

While not a radio station in the sense of what you get on the radio, the radio station that I have begun have a play list that will grow over time, playing songs from the 1980s through to today. There may be an odd song from out of that time period, but that would be the general time frame.

What sort of music? Well, there won’t be anything too heavy there, so I suppose the music could be described as easy listening pop/rock.

I have only just started at Blip.fm, but there is some music there already and it will steadily grow. You’ll soon get a feel for the sort of music I like.
