Movies & Social Networking

I have spent a goodly amount of time this evening trying to find a social networking/web application experience that will allow me to share what DVDs and movies I own, as well as sharing my reviews, ratings, etc. Try as I may (and have), I am yet to find a place that will allow me to do all of this in one place and that will share all that experience to my Facebook timeline. There must be a place – but I can’t find it.

I have tried Keepio and Bagcheck, but these don’t really do what I want. They are probably good for listing your items (not just DVDs and movies), though Keepio is not allowing me to add any more than one item at the moment for some reason. Bagcheck is way too public for my liking. So I have accounts at both, but I’m not likely to use them for this particular purpose.

I use Flickchart and Flixster, which have proven to be very good for rating and reviewing movies, but not so good for listing the DVDs and movies I own. I do like both of these sites and will continue to use them. I will probably use something like Listgeeks (where I also have an account) for listing what movies I own, unless I find something else.

One other avenue I haven’t really explored at the moment are the various iPhone apps, so I’ll do that next.

Anyone got any ideas – I’ll be grateful for that ‘place’ that will do it for me. Someone? Anyone?

So what started all of this off? It was buying and watching ‘The Grey’ last night – it got me to thinking that I should get around to doing this part of the social scene. My review can be found at Flixster – http://www.flixster.com/movie/the-grey-2012/ .

HappyRambles

HappyRambles is something between a Blog and a personal diary. It is a way of remembering the blessings you receive and/or what you are thankful for each day.

When you are registered and set up, the application will email you each day with a reminder to log in what you are grateful for on that day. You simply reply to the email with 3 to 5 items and your Blog/diary is updated. The daily email also reminds you of what you were thankful for on a previous random day.

You are also able to share entries with others by simply emailing them a copy of your day, right from the entry.

Oops… Been Forgetting to Post

View Towards Yaccaba and TomareeFirstly, I must apologise for not posting over the last few days. I have no excuse – except to say I forgot to do so. Oops!!! OK, so I have the apology out of the way – time to post a photo for today.

Today I went on a ferry trip from Tea Gardens to Nelson Bay, did a spot of shopping and then came back via the ferry. It was a bit choppy on the water today and we got tossed around a little. Wasn’t a bad trip and I picked up a few items that I had wanted to get for a while. The ferry cruise across the ‘port’ would have been a lot more pleasant if it wasn’t so windy and cold, but still a good trip.

The photo at right was taken from the ferry while in the middle of the crossing of Port Stephens towards Nelson Bay. The picture shows both Yaccaba and Tomaree, with Broughton Island in the distance.

Newcastle Cathedral

100_1834

Being a Protestant and a Particular Baptist, I don’t go much for the building as far as it being essential for worship. Don’t get me wrong, having a dedicated building to meet in is very helpful and useful, but if you are to have a building it needs to lend itself for the purpose, being completely functional as such and efficient in terms of the funding for it (it is far more profitable to use what money you have in carrying out the mission, than building a facade of religion).

Having said all that, the building in this picture is certainly an impressive one. It is a grand old building (as far as ‘old’ goes in relatively young Australia), rich in history, as it contains many historical items of interest.

The building pictured is that of the Newcastle Cathedral (Church of England). As grand as it looks, it is hardly the bastion of Evangelical Protestantism that one would have hoped for. Any true semblance of Evangelical Christianity that it may have borne witness to has long gone from its walls.
